As linseed oil molecules are very small, it can penetrate the surface and protect it from penetration by water, moisture and dirt. Linseed oil normally dries in 1-3 days depending on the surface and how thick the applied coat is. Air, heat and light speed up the drying process. Add thin layers and remove the excess with a cloth after 20 minutes. It is good to add several coats, allowing the surface to dry between each coat, until the surface is completely saturated.
